It feels like forever ago since I’ve shared another sample
review, and even longer lifetime ago since I got the
sample. Today’s sample is
Dax’s short and neat hair dress, which is a petroleum based, coconut and seed
oil product that can used on clean, damp or dry hair. Now, I know that
petroleum is one of those ‘meh, probably shouldn’t use that on my scalp’
ingredients because of its tendency to clog pores, create build-up, and do
other nasty stuff to your scalp which prevents hair growth and makes your hair
feel icky (is that just me?); but I feel like it’s an okay ingredient to put in
your hair every so often. I tried out this sample a few days ago on a whim, and
I was pleasantly surprised. I haven’t used a petroleum based product in a long
time so it was definitely a change.

As this is a petroleum based hair product, it’s stiff and
jelly-like unlike the water based
Blue Magic conditioners I’m used to using on
my hair. Because Dax is different to what I’m used it, it was a little strange
putting something so solid onto my scalp.
Compared to the last sample I tried, there was a quite a lot
in this little sachet, and it was enough to cover my full scalp.
One of the things I loved about this sample was the smell! By
now you know I’m a sucker for anything that smells nice, especially if it’s
going on my head. I mean, if I’ll have to smell it for hours I’d rather it
smelt of something nice. This smelt of coconut oil mixed with another sweet ingredient.
All in all I’m not sure I would buy this, just because it is
petroleum based and I prefer my water based hair products. That being said, it’s
one of those products that I feel every girl needs to have on her table (even
if it doesn’t get used all that much), so if I had to buy it, I’d probably buy
a mini tub of this instead of a full sized tub.
