On the one hand, it definitely gives me the lashes of my
dreams (with the compliments to boot) – which I love. After two to three
delicate yet deliberate swipes across my lashes, those small hairs are
immediately transformed into long, thick, perfectly slightly clumped, fake-looking,
inky black streaks that proclaim W O W. Like I mentioned, I get questions like
“are those your real lashes?”, “are you wearing fake lashes”, which you guys
know is the best compliment anyone could possibly give me… well one of them
anyway. After two to three delicate yet deliberate swipes across my lashes, I’m
instantly transformed to Super Alice who is ready to tackle the day – a similar
feeling to when I’m wearing a fresh red manicure. However, this mascara is not
without its faults.
Using this mascara definitely took a bit of getting used to.
I often joke that this mascara should come with a handbook because, well, it’s
a tricky little thing. For some reason, with each use, the application process
was always different. Maybe I wasn’t used to the crazily shaped brush with two
sides that offer two different types of W O W. While the flat curved side is
perfect the fanning out lashes and making them appear larger and more
pronounced, the thinner side with stubby teeth offers a more subtle touch. With
that in mind, you can imagine how I looked after applying mascara to my eyes using
the different sides of the brush. One eye looked fab but the other looked… well, not that fab. That said, luckily for me, after a few weeks of using it, I
slowly got the hang of it and became such a dab hand at applying.
How does it compare to other Rimmel London mascaras?
The Rimmel London Wonder’Luxe Volume Mascara definitely
ranks pretty high on the list for me. Despite our unfortunate bad first
impressions, I have honestly grown to really love and appreciate it, and would
definitely recommend it. After having to temporarily use the Rimmel LondonWonder’Full Mascara (which I must add that I really loved when I first used
it), I realise just how great Wonder’Luxe Volume really is.
However, this will
never beat the Rimmel London Wonder’Fully Real Mascara, which for me is
hands-down the best mascara EVER. And speaking of the Wonder’Fully Real Mascara, I haven’t actually used it for the last couple of months because
annoyingly enough I can’t seem to find it anywhere.
