Back when I used to relax my hair, a simple top knot was my go-to hair style. I would wear it to school, to work, to bed, to go out, and loved how easy it was to throw up my hair whenever it wouldn’t cooperate enough to be worn down and out. However, once I decided to go natural and cut my hair (it wasn’t quite a big chop) it was bye-bye to the beloved knot as my hair was no longer enough to reach into a bun.

there is no way i could have put this in a bun at all! |
At the time, I remember one of my biggest hair goals (aside from wanting healthy, strong hair etc.) was to be able to have hair long enough that I could wear it in a top knot again. You guys have seen some of the progress pics and know how long it took for my hair to even grow the tiniest bit. I think that after a while I forgot about this hair goal and didn’t even notice my hair growth until back in November when I was getting ready to go to a friend’s birthday party. On a random whim I decided to try a top knot as I thought it’d look sleek with my outfit, and to my surprise, my hair managed to get up on top of my head!

i'm obsessed with my top knot! after all these years i'm so excited i can fit my hair into my old favourite hair style |
I am so happy to announce that not only has my hair grown immensely in these past three years, but it is now long enough to wear in a top knot! I honestly couldn’t be more thrilled about it. And even though it’s not as easy to throw up on a whim, I like knowing that now I have the option to wear my hair however I like.
