Why I Stopped Wearing Benefit They're Real Mascara.

Aka why the grass is not always greener on the other side.

The short answer: because it made me break out and I’m pretty sure it was behind my now infamous rash at the beginning of the year.
It’s funny because now as I look back on my journey with this mascara I see that it was not meant to be. At first the thought of spending £22 on a single mascara made me baulk, but then as I came around to the idea that £22 was nothing if it meant I would get the lashes of my dreams, I started seeing it as nothing (especially in relation to my then newish salary).

But then the unthinkable happened: I broke out. Perhaps because my skin is used to drugstore makeup, it didn’t take to this new formula. After the first day I tried it back in august, I noticed lots of tiny bumps on my face, akin to the rash I experienced earlier this year. However instead of taking that as a sign to stop using it, I simply shrugged and continued to use it – only pairing it with a Maybelline mascara to reduce the bumps. I would say this worked well for a few months until January came and my face exploded with what looked more like a disease than anything else.
if you look closely around my eye area and forehead, you can spot some bumps
Do you want to know the funniest part of the whole ordeal? The mascara didn’t even get me the lashes of my dreams. I found that layering my Maybelline mascara helped me achieve what I had been looking for from the very beginning. I guess you could say that sometimes the grass is not always greener on the other £22 side, and that just because you have the extra income to splash, doesn’t mean you should.
