To say it’s been cold (in London anyway) would be a MAJOR understatement. I think the words “Arctic Tundra” would best describe the temperatures of late, and while I’d love to be sunning myself on one of the gorgeous Canary Islands or basking on the beach in Cape Verde, I’ve got to make do with harsh winds that feel like they’re slicing through my bones, and sub-zero temps. So, how exactly is my naturally dry-prone hair coping in the midst of all of this? Well you’d be surprised to know that the answer is: pretty damn well. How? You’re about to find out.
BLUE MAGIC TEA TREE OIL
I mean, duh. My hair reacts to this like plants to sunlight. Tea Tree has always been something my hair has benefited from. Using this as a base for my hair regime is great because it really energises my strands and breathes new life into my hair while nourishing and moisturising my dry (sometimes itchy) scalp and fighting dandruff; all symptoms of cold weather.
ORS MONOI OIL LEAVE-IN CONDITIONER
I’ll explain more in my usual Empties post once I’ve finished with it, but let me just say now that this conditioner is the definition of a game-changer. In all my research I’m usually a little bit sceptical about “miracle” oils and ingredients that claim to do a hundred and one things, but I honestly believe that monoi oil is hands down the real deal. The way my hair has flourished since I’ve started using this conditioner is absolutely unbelievable.
SOFT & BEAUTIFUL BOTANICALS ULTRA CONDITIONING LEAVE IN CONDITIONER
Again I’ll explain more once I’ve finished it, but I like to use this as one of the last steps in my winter hair regime. The consistency is quite thin so it definitely helps that I layer it on top of thicker products like the two I mentioned above. That said, the moment I’ve applied it, I feel like I’m chilling out in the tropics in my favourite bikini – as does my hair!
EXTRAS:
While the three products above have definitely been doing wonders for my hair, these two extras (I couldn't help myself) are what I would definitely call the core of my winter hair regime. I put these in my hair every single working day so that I know when I leave the house, my hair will have all the protection it needs for the day.
IC SHEA BUTTER DEEP OIL MOISTURISER
Where would I be without this moisturiser? The moment I saw it on the shop shelf and read that it’s great for different weather conditions, it was like love at first sight and I was sold. I’m still yet to share a proper review of the stuff (even though I’ve bought this several times since I first showed it on the blog), but this moisturiser is EVERYTHING. Thick, pungent and super easy to apply in the morning, I never leave the house without smudging some of this in my hair first. And don’t just take my word for it, my brother is also a massive fan too.
PALTAS PKC LEAVE IN CONDITIONING SPRAY
Another “duh” product. I don't think I'll ever stop using this spray. When layered with other products (especially the shea butter deep oil moisturiser) it seems to work at 1000%, and though I never really notice after I’ve sprayed it, the effect it has on my hair really shows at the end of the week when I take out my hair.
I’m sure you can see a theme in the products that have been keeping my hair going this winter. Every product I’m using is moisturising and conditioning, something that I’ve spoken a lot about in the past. For strong capable hair, you need three things: moisture, moisture, MOISTURE.
