Sunday marked officially two years since I last used a
chemical relaxer on my hair and oh my god, how time has flown! Over the last
couple of months, I’ve been thinking about how best to commemorate this special
occasion, without being too cliché i.e. writing yet another ‘X things I’ve learned’
type posts. Instead I’ve decided to do a progress type post, showing just how
much my hair has grown in two years by sharing the same hairstyle two years
apart.

This whole journey has truly been such an eye opener into my
hair, my identity and well, me. I went from feeling superhuman thanks to my rigorous
regime that included DIY concoctions and six hour lead times, to struggling to
fit it all into my schedule and lazy habit tendencies. Right now I’d say I’ve reached
a happy median whereby I’m doing enough to ensure my hair is well taken care
of, while also not sacrificing my whole weekend. I can’t wait to continue
sharing this journey with you all.
