If you didn’t know, my all-time favourite drink is water. Though
I don’t drink nearly as much as I should, I drink it all the time and am known
to carry a bottle with me at all time and order it when I’m eating out. But if I
had to choose a second favourite drink, it’d have to be malt. I don’t know why
but there’s something about the taste that I can never get enough of, and once I
get started it’s hard to stop. Now I know you’re wondering what my favourite
drinks could possibly have to do with hair, beauty or skincare, but stay with
me. Last week, after finishing my fourth bottle of malt, I found myself reading
the bottle to see what kind of magical goodness was inside that kept me coming
back for more, and I noticed a key ingredient: B vitamins. The mention of
vitamins got me thinking: what is so good of them, and how do they justify my
malt addiction.
I should start by saying there are eight B vitamins: B1
(thiamine), B2 (riboflavin), B3 (niacin), B5 (pantothenic acid), B6 (pyridoxine),
B7 (biotin), B9 (folic acid), B12 (cobalamin); and they each do a number of
things for the body. Ranging from helping create new cells, regulating the
nervous system, producing hormones, fighting infection, promoting growth of red
blood cells (which also helps in promoting healthy hair growth), increasing
energy, and improving memory, getting your fair share of B vitamins is really
important – even if it means drinking your favourite malt drink.
So while water will always be my number one, armed with
these B vitamin facts, you can bet I’ll keep drinking malt for a very loooooong
time.
