I’m a sucker for Venus razors. I’ve been using them ever
since I was a teenager (I honestly don’t think I’ve used another brand) and
they only had three blades. They always left my legs feeling smooth, and while
in the beginning my legs and armpits would get irritable (that was more my
fault and not using the right shaving cream for my skin), over time I had
accumulated a few of their different versions. The last Venus razor I was using
was the five-blade Olay version that had Olay cream infused strips that meant
you didn’t have to worry about using shaving cream or getting irritable skin
afterwards. It was probably the best razor I had ever used in my life, and I loved
how it made my skin feel soft, nourished and moisturised – all very important
things when you’re shaving. You’re probably wondering then, why I chose to try
a new Venus razor when I had found the perfect one. Well, as I stood in Superdrug
looking for my go-to razor, I realised that they didn’t have any in stock,
which meant I had to choose another one. It was between this aloe vera one and
the Swirl (which I ended up buying last week), and as I’m obsessed with aloe vera,
I went with this one.
This particular razor is targeted at those with sensitive
skin as the aloe helps soothe the skin and cause less irritation by the blades
against the skin. Additionally, the five blades allows for a closer shave
meaning you can go longer between shavings. I can’t really say the aloe razor
helped soothe my skin as I use a really foamy shower gel when I shave my legs,
but I did find that my armpits in particular were less irritable afterwards and
my skin felt less itchy.
So, how does it compare to the other Venus razors? While I did
like it, I prefer the Olay Venus razor. Have you tried this razor or any other Venus
razors? What were your thoughts?
