Okay so today I’ve got a pretty random treatment I’m looking
forward to trying the next time I wash my hair. Don’t ask me what made me even
think of typing it into Google because I honestly have no idea and still think
it’s a weird treatment to exist, but as I always say, when it comes to my hair I’ll
try anything at least once. So, the treatment in question? A salt scalp scrub
treatment!
If you’re anything like me you’ll shy away from any salt
interaction (except for McDonald’s fries because those are genuinely a gift sent
from heaven), to the point where you don’t even add extra salt to food when
your cooking or eating. For me I’ve always considered salt to be bad for you
and have always felt as though it should be kept at arm’s length, especially if
you want to live a long and healthy life. So imagine my surprise when I started
reading about the benefits of using salt on your scalp.
Salt has many properties that helps to cleanse and treat
irritable skin conditions such as dermatitis and acne, and can also be used to alleviate
dandruff by preventing fungi and removing dead skin. By rubbing salt on you
scalp, you also help to stimulate your blood circulation which also leads to
improved growth and stronger strands. While I’ll probably still hold these views
for the rest of my life, I may make the exception to applying salt to my outer
body as opposed to inside me.
The best way to use salt on your hair is to divide you hair
into sections and sprinkle salt on your scalp. Once you scalp is nicely salted,
with wet fingers, massage you scalp for ten to fifteen minutes before rinsing
your hair with conditioner. Your scalp should feel immediately relived and
fresh.
Even though salt water has long been renowned for giving
effortless beachy waves, I always assumed salt dried out hair in the similar
way it makes us thirsty when we eat too much of it. I think that with that in
mind, using salt on your hair has probably got to be one of the strangest
treatments I’ve found so far. Anyway, make sure you check back for more
treatments to try, and see my thoughts on this treatment.
